Vernon Padgett - Lead singer, rhythm guitar

As a very young boy, Vernon's older cousin, Paul, taught him to play the guitar. They would play and sing all the old standards. Vernon learned to play on his brother Melvin's blond Custom Craft guitar. He eventually bought his own 1948 mahogany Gibson which he still plays today. Unfortunately, Melvin never saw his younger brother's success, for he lost his life while serving our country during World War II. Vernon, himself, promptly joined the military to honor his brothers memory. Patriotic songs always closed the Vigilantes shows as well. As an accomplished writer, Vernon has written numerous songs (Be sure to visit the web site store). According to Vernon, "it takes more that a cowboy hat to make it country". A few of his personal favorites include, Slim Whitman, Gene Autry, Eddy Arnold and Patsy Cline. He is still married to his childhood sweetheart, Dorothy. They have four children.

Keith Padgett - Lead guitar and vocals

Learning to play the guitar became a family tradition! Following in his footsteps, Keith learned to play the guitar from his Dad, Vernon. He first picked up the guitar at the tender age of nine. Keith has become known for his own style which does include using the "thumb and finger" style of playing the guitar. Over the years Keith has also taught himself to play the banjo, fiddle, bass and keyboards. He has earned the respect of many of the musicians he has worked with. It's been said he could give Chet Atkins a run for his money! Chet Atkins, Hank Williams Sr., Marty Robbins, Patsy Cline and Johnny Horton are listed among his favorites.

Debra Padgett - vocals and percussion

Music has always been a part of the family! It's hard to remember a time when someone wasn't singing. Debra has also won multiple Society of Professional Journalists awards for her work in radio broadcasting. As a freelance writer, she's written articles on various musical entertainers featured in music magazines across the US including many on Gene Pitney (Be sure to check out the latest edition of Vigilantes Country). Teresa "Music, Music, Music" Brewer, once told Debra during an interview "there are only two kinds of music...good and bad!" Ms Brewer was right! Enjoying a wide range of "good" music, Debra's personal favorites include Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Carl Smith, Lefty Frizzell, Bobby Vee, Gene Pitney and Johnny Tillotson.

Leslie, another family member who helped the Vigilantes with vocals, has now followed another career path as a writer of children's books.
